Check out my Bitmoji Classroom!

The countdown has begun...there are 5 more days until my first day of school (as a teacher). My school has implemented TONS of new changes due to COVID-19 and I respect that the new regulations are to keep the staff and children safe. However, I also would be lying if the new rules have not caused anxiety, stress, fear and etc for myself and my co - workers. What's keeping me from going completely insane? Well here are the following reasons: my passion for teaching, my faith in God, my classroom assistant (because she's a rockstar) and just accepting the unknown. Just like Elsa who goes into the unknown in search of the mysterious singing voice, I am following Jesus' calling for me which is to teach this year's children. At this point, while everyone is still stressed and/or freaking out, I find it better to just take it day by day, hour by hour and just see what happens. There's literally nothing else we can do but to just breathe and see how our new regulations and rules take shape. Now, let's change gears and talk a little bit about Bitmojis! I will say that I'm always last to find out what's going on and what's popular due to not having social media and not being personally invested into technology trends, however I do know that Bitmojis have been out for a little bit. However! Us teachers have really taken over and turned these cute cartoon version of ourselves into a must have classroom staple! Before I show off and talk about my Bitmoji virtual classroom, let me show you something else that I just had to have that's Bitmoji related:

How cute are these stickers?!? I purchased these really cool stickers from UniqueAnamoly, which is an Etsy store. I thought these stickers would just put a huge smile on my future students' faces! I just can't wait to stick these onto future assignments & homework!! *sigh* It's the little things! =D

Now for the moment you've all been waiting for....*DRUMROLL*....my virtual Bitmoji Classroom!

What do you think?! Isn't it super cute! How fun is this?!? Now, I did sort of cheat a little...I did not not create this Bitmoji classroom from scratch, I'm not that creative! I did however purchase this amazing package from Keeping Up with Mrs. Harris from Teachers Pay Teachers. This year my school is not hosting our traditional Back to School Orientation/Meet the Teacher, but we were given creative freedom to come up with something for our virtual Orientation. Just like every other teacher, I was on Pinterest trying to figure out what to do, when I noticed that the Bitmoji classrooms were becoming a big deal. I don't remember how I came across this great virtual package created by Keeping Up with Mrs. Harris, but I'm glad I did! As you can see, my virtual classroom has 8 stations. I thought this was very neat since I set up stations like this during my real orientations so that students and parents have an excuse to move about the classroom. However, with these virtual stations, the parent will click on each one and a Google form will pop up in a new window. Long story short, I have 8 different forms - four of them require information to be filled out and the other four are videos for the parents and their child to watch. For example, two of my videos are "new carline procedures" and "my classroom tour". I'm just so proud on how it turned out and best part is it honestly didn't take more than a total of 3 hours to complete.

Coming full circle, we all know that this school year is going to be different, however looking on the bright side we are all learning and growing in so many new ways! Do you think that I would've created a Bitmoji classroom just for the fun of it? Nope! Do you think I would've ran into these cute Bitmoji stickers if they haven't become so big amongst us teachers all of a sudden? No! Whether it's a Bitmoji classroom, or learning how to do a live zoom with your e-learners or even learning how to create a Google website/classroom for the first time, no matter what it is, we've got this! We have to get this because our students depend on us! We can not display any of the emotions we've been feeling for the last month or maybe even for some the whole summer, it's time for us to be the super-heros we were born to be and just take a deep breath and TEACH!
